The network analysis is a planning method and based on the graph theory. In this theory all activities are displayed in the consideration of time and dependencies. The method of the network analysis is used to control the project. The individual activities will be arranged and recorded according to the dependencies and their time required. Such a planning of the logical relationships between activities and their timing is the basis for the creation of the communication tools, e.g. mielstones, Gantt charts.
The project logical relationship is clear from the beginning till the end due to the network analysis. The critical path and resource bottlenecks are easily recognizable. Also the network analysis is a calculation method helping to define the earliest possible and latest necessary start and finish of the work packages or activities. There are following types of the network analysis: structural planning, time planning, cost budgeting and capacity planning.
